Board of Directors
Karl-Heinz Zacher, initiator of the faceALS Foundation, has been dedicated to the study of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis since 2012, at which time, his wife Nina Zacher was diagnosed with ALS. Even after her death in May 2016, he continued the research, that was begun a year before, with great personal commitment. This sustainable and promising research is now continued by the faceALS Foundation, with the goal of finding a reliable diagnosis and targeted therapy as soon as possible.
Tania Higgins has a very personal link to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Her husband, Prof. Christian Schreiber, lost the fight against ALS in July of 2016. Professor Schreiber was a gifted and internationally renowned cardiac surgeon. Along with Karl-Heinz Zacher and Dr. med. Heiko Ott, he used his medical network to advance ALS research with remarkable dedication. Tania Higgins is responsible for media and internationalization at the faceALS Foundation.
